PROJECT SNAPSHOT

Company Type:  B2C
Industry:  Sports
Project Type:  Online Community
Solution:  CP Rescue

The Spitter project came to CommonPlaces as a CP Rescue project. They felt the scope of services and 'bench depth' at CommonPlaces was better aligned with their business objectives for site performance and feature development than their provider at the time. CommonPlaces' engineering team picked up where the previous firm left off, completing the desired functionality, and resolving existing site errors. Our experts then examined their existing server architecture, and made necessary changes to improve performance and speed of the site.

Spitter is a website that aims to bring the real-time Web to sports fans, and vice versa. Fans can log into Spitter, navigate to their favorite team, and put their finger to the pulse of that team's following. Spitter pulls in Twitter posts that mention a particular team, and puts this real time stream alongside recent blog posts and news stories about the team. A quick glance will tell you exactly what's going on, and breaking stories will often hit here before they reach the mainstream media.

Spitter pulls content from over 10,000 feeds. The site also features a Twitter-like interface for posting specifically to Spitter. You can follow and be followed, just like the popular social networking site.
