Waste Management hired CommonPlaces to do a strategic analysis of their inaugural ecommerce site. We concluded that Waste Management’s mission, to be eco-friendly, needed to connect with its customers through an online community. The goal of this community would be to educate and reward green-minded individuals.
Thus, Greenopolis.com, a “green” educational community that encourages its members to make positive environmental changes in their daily lives, was born. CommonPlaces created a fictitious ambassador named Liv Green as the site mascot. Liv encouraged “green” thinking & behavior through blog posts and discussion boards.
Since its inception, Greenopolis has won numerous awards for design and innovation, including the WebAward for Outstanding Achievement in Website Development. CommonPlaces developed the strategy, wrote the business, developed the website, and provided business development consultation. Greenopolis has since partnered with Recyclebank, making it the leading online recycling rewards program in America.
