Waste Management hired CommonPlaces to do a strategic analysis of their inaugural ecommerce site. We concluded that Waste Management’s mission, to be eco-friendly, needed to connect with its customers through an online community. The goal of this community was to educate and reward green-minded individuals.
Thus, Greenopolis.com, a “green” educational community that encouraged its members to make positive environmental changes in their daily lives, was born. CommonPlaces created a fictitious ambassador named as the site mascot. encouraged “green” thinking & behavior through blog posts and discussion boards.
Greenopolis won numerous awards for design and innovation, including the . CommonPlaces developed the strategy and website, and also provided business development consultation. Greenopolis eventually partnered with Recyclebank, becoming the leading online recycling rewards program in America.
