New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan has appointed Ben Bassi, CEO and founder of CommonPlaces, Inc., to the New Hampshire State Workforce Investment Board. The board is devoted to building a strong collaboration for innovative workforce development programs among business leaders, public officials, and community-based organizations throughout the state.

“Building a stronger workforce with the skills and innovative thinking needed for success in the 21st century economy is critical to supporting our job-creating businesses, expanding middle class opportunity and keeping our economy moving in the right direction,” Governor Hassan stated. “As the CEO and founder of CommonPlaces, Ben Bassi is a successful business leader who knows the kind of workers our innovative businesses need to create jobs and thrive, and I am confident that he will help strengthen workforce development in the Granite State.”

The State Workforce Investment Board has five stated priorities:

  1. To establish a workforce development system that is market driven, customer responsive, performance based, and aligned with the skilled labor needs of New Hampshire.
  2. To prepare New Hampshire’s youth, the emerging workforce, for employment and further education.
  3. To prepare transitional workers for employment that leads to job retention, wage progression and self-sufficiency.
  4. To assist business and industry in upgrading the skills of the current workforce.
  5. To improve labor market exchange and labor market information for all businesses and individuals.

‘I’m looking forward to working with the Governor and my fellow members of the State Workforce Investment Board as we seek ways to enhance workforce development in New Hampshire,’ said Bassi. ‘CommonPlaces has benefitted from innovative state employment programs, and I hope to help others build on that success.’ In fact, the US Department of Labor has recognized CommonPlaces for its efforts.

Bassi was the Chief Operating Officer of the Firefly Network, the web’s first social network. An innovator in e-business and online privacy innovations, Ben combines experience as a marketer and digital executive with a vast entrepreneurial skillset.

CommonPlaces is a digital agency specializing in web design and development, inbound marketing services, mobile web solutions, and online strategy. As Bassi explains, ‘At CommonPlaces we are able to combine strategic, creative, and technological expertise in one convenient package. In a world of web designers who provide creative designs, developers who build technology solutions, and marketing consultants who offer business strategy, CommonPlaces is able to give our customers all three.’

The company was recently named as the Best Drupal Developer in the United States by Best Web Design Agencies, and was honored with the 2014 Web Marketing Association’s WebAward for Outstanding Achievement in Web Development.
